I really hadn't planned on spending any time in Delhi. But since my flight to
Kathmandu was delayed a day
, my flight back was moved forward a day too. This would
have made it difficult to get to Jaipur as I'd planned. So I skipped going to
Jaipur, and stayed to sightsee in Delhi. This was good too- There are some
amazing things to see, the food was good, and I got to connect with David and
Mugdha for dinner again.
The downside to my stay in Delhi was the little hotel I stayed in. It was quite modest, and mostly adequate, but the windows didn't seal. One night someone was burning a huge pile of garbage outside, and the upper floor filled with smoke. I woke up hacking and wheezing, and it felt as though I'd gotten some sort of respiratory thing. I was moved to a different room that night, but it was already done. Even though I was pretty uncomfortable the rest of the trip, I still had a good time and enjoyed seeing the country. One nice thing about my hotel is that they arranged to get me a car and driver to cart me around to the things I wanted to see. This was really a driver, and not a guide, but he spoke passable English, and took me where I wanted to go. |
