Here is something easy to try, Dan, take the bunch of grounds that are tied
to the frame at the point where the front of the seat and the tank cover
meet on the right side, just in front of the battery, and place these on the
negative terminal of the battery. I had the same hot start, and eventually
no start, on the 'Chiquita', it would go thru new batteries as well, did
this in Feb. this year, and not 1 problem since!

BTW, Dan, U hit the nail on the head with the 'hotrod' thing, the starter
gets hot from the close proximity to the exhaust; the new 4-brush units are
stronger(90up), and don't suffer from the  heat.
