Subject: Re: Vmax fuel filter Richard, I have used Russell & Purilator see thru with replacable filter as well as the garden variety 1.99 type sold in "mom/pop" shops. Thanks for any info. > ****************************************************************Rich, Once I followed v-listers directions and located the filter (incredibly easy spot to reach...right under the seat) I was shocked to discover its once see-thru white plastic shell revealing it was packed with debris! I popped it off and drove three blocks to the local Mechanic's Auto Parts and asked the counter guy to "match it up". He came back with (off all things after ALL THE BAD-MOUTHING OF The Brand) a FRAM G3606. A bargain at $1.98 ! Well, any port in a storm ...I mounted it and 98% of my stumble and stutter problems have gone away. I cut the old one in half and poured out a palm full of rust colored particles! I can imagine the havoc they could've created. I hope to swap the filter for the real thing soon but I am sooooo lazy about maintenance. PS: The box proclaims it was originally intended for a 1980-81 Dodge Omni 1.7 liter 2 bbl engine ! T VMOA#247 --------------- AJ: have you run some of Berryman's B-12 fuel cleaner rough your fuel system? It is hygroscopic and takes out the moisture in your gas ank and fuel lines to prevent further rust to build. There is some "cleaning action" as well to dissolve gumming and other deposits in those delicate fuel channels of your carbs. PS: a recognize that some FRAM products are now build in Canada, not exclusively in low labor rate economies. Bert --------- No sir...nothing yet. I am terrified that 9 outta 10 fuel additives DO MORE HARM THAN GOOD! Are you sure Berrymans B-12 would be "berry berry good to me" and not eat up those EXPENSIVE diaphragms or other vital parts of a 12 year young motorcycle? The bike was purchased wrecked, and sat for multiple years in a corner of someone's garage. Soon, the tank will come off for an inspection and possible replacement depending on what is found. Hey, I saw an aluminum 10 gallon fuel cell in The Summit Catalog that could get polished and mounted on the passenger pillion and extend my range! Delivered to your door free for the low, low price of 161.95 !
