Good to hear you guys made it back to Houston safely. Yeah, FM315 was a fine stretch of road :-) and one can bring a Max pretty easily to its limit. ----- From: ALAN TOORAEN Date: Sat, 13 Mar 1999 14:59:51 -0600 Subject: Re: Trip X-USA Rich, I have been down to Big Bend several times on my GTS with the Honda Sport Touring Association. It is wonderful. The roads are good, the scenery is great, and there is virtually no traffic. The base elevation of the Davis Plateau is about 5000 feet , so you can tell a difference in power. The mountains there go up to nearly 8000 feet. The temperature can vary 75 degrees in a day. I have gotten up to 20 degree mornings and seen it hit 95 by 3:00 in the afternoon. The Rio Grande canyon road is also great, as is the National park. If you speed in the park be careful, because the rangers will give you a ticket if you get ridiculous about your speed. Outside the park I have ridden at 100+ for 45 minutes at a time. All in all it is well worth the trip to see the place. Sincerely,
