What gives? > > Shawn P This past week on a lightly traveled road near me, the local police dept. had set up one of portable radar readout machines along the side of the road that tells you your speed. Well,me being the curious sort, I thought I'd try this puppy out! I blasted past the thing at 100+mph but I was not even picked up until about 100ft.away from it & when it did show figures they were 76,94,& then blank! This coincides with the stories I've heard that to keep radar from locking on to you, you have to either be accelerating very hard or braking very hard so the radar can't compute your speed fast enough to lock on. I also went around again to verify the initial lock distance & it was the same at 40mph, about 100ft. I think that the small cross section of a motorcycle helps a lot! Bob Taylor
