Yep, this IS a motorcycle filter. The PH6017A is made by Fram for   
motorcycles and I've got friends who use it on their CBR's and VFR's as   
well. I saw that article in MCN too, and would NEVER put an auto oil   
filter on any of my bikes. I like it because it has a thicker rubber   
gasket than the OEM does. It just happens to be available at the local   
autoparts store. I've used this filter for 6 years now on a Honda   
Nighthawk 750 and the GTS. They actually had a recall on a batch of these   
filters a couple of years ago when Fram tried having these filters made   
in Singapore. Everyone I've every purchased say "Made in Canada" on the   
side and have worked wonderfully and never leak with a stong hand   
tightening.
