The 3 wires are pink/black, light green and finally black. So, which do I short? Also, does the adjustment occur by loosening the 2 hex screws and slightly rotating the whole unit including its connector? It seems the screws that hold the unit in place have been dabbed with beige paint by the factory to remain precisely set. Should the painting process be repeated after setting the appropriate voltage? Thank you George ------------------------------ From: RSRBOB@aol.com Date: Fri, 12 Mar 1999 20:56:42 EST Subject: Re: Technical question George, Connecting the pink/black wire to the black wire puts the EFI in the dealer mode.(after one second) If the output of the TPS is low, you will get a blinking of the check engine light of on for 1 second intervals, off for 0.2 second intervals. If the blinking is on and off at 0.15 second intervals, the output voltage is too high. If the blinking is on for 0.5 seconds, off for 0.5 seconds The two socket head bolts, 3 MM I beleive, are what are used to secure the TPS. It is not necessary to replace the paint mark after adjustment. This is merely a visual verification system used at the factory to identify the fact that this unit has had the TPS adjusted, not just installed. You will want to make sure you sync your injectors, NOT THE THROTTLE BUTTERFLIES, prior to adjusting the TPS. Part of adjsuting the sync also includes making sure the idle speed is set properly. 1000 RPM +/- 50 RPM. Also, throttle cable free play set at 3 to 5 MM. Make sure the engine is fully warmed up when performing sync/idle speed adjsutments. When I did the TPS adjustment on mine, I rotated the TPS, the whole black plastic componenant, counterclockwise as far as I could and still get the proper code being displayed in the dealer mode. I felt a noticable improvement, but not elimination of the symptoms. Counterclock wise increases voltage output Clockwise decreases it. I also ended up at .750 DCV. I started out with a base reading or .729 DCV. Bob
